Halloween!!

I was excited that this year for Halloween none of my girls wanted to be princesses! I am glad they are broadening their horizons...and realizing that they can be cute without huge disney princesses all over your dress! This year Abby decided what she was going to be first. She wanted to be Supergirl! There were some posts earlier of her, but I will add another picture just for fun. Thank goodness I let her wear her costume a couple days before Halloween because I found out that she couldn't take it off herself to go potty, so we had to re-make it!

Mackenzie wanted to be Fancy Nancy. We LOVE Fancy Nancy at our house! I couldn't find a Fancy Nancy costume, so I had to make this one too. Fortunately, aside from the sunglasses and sparkly shoes, we were able to use stuff we had laying around the house. I didn't mind buying the sparkly shoes because they will go with her Christmas dresses. I think she turned out cute! I was a bit surprised at how many people had never even heard of Fancy Nancy and thought she was a strange looking princess, but Kenzie felt cute and that is all I care about!!
Alysa took a long time to decide what she was going to be. She finally decided on a pink fairy! She was so cute! I was pretty much off the hook for her costume! I made her wand and flower crown, I was glad to find a use for the scrapbooking brads and fake flowers that have been laying around here! We all had a great Halloween and are now looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Is it a girl? Is it a princess? no... it's SUPER Abby!!!

Abby REALLY wanted to be supergirl for Halloween. I think it turned out pretty cute!!! We will have to see if the costume actually makes it to Halloween still looking cute...but for now she is adorable!

Pot Stirrer

I forgot to put this little story in Abby's first day of school.....About a week before school started Abby had to go in and get her testing done. She was SO excited to meet her teacher and be in the classroom! When we got there, her teacher told us that they had quite a few last minute kindergarten kids sign up, so they were going to have to hire a 4th teacher. To make it fair, they were going to put all the kindergartners in a pot and the teacher that pulled them out would be their teacher. Abby was devastated. She REALLY wanted the teacher she originally had. All of the sudden, her excitement for kindergarten was over. She hardly talked about it, didn't have much interest in picking out a first day of school outfit and seemed more nervous than excited. I thought the stress of not knowing her teacher and not knowing what to expect was getting to her. My efforts to console her on these things, didn't seem to be helping. Finally, the day before kindergarten, I was helping her pick out an outfit. She finally asked me in a very serious voice..."mom...is it true that on the first day of school they are going to put all the kindergarten kids in a big pot and the teachers are going to pull them out because I don't want to be put in a pot." I could hardly keep a straight face, but explained that no, they would do no such thing and that she would still have the teacher she did her testing with. All of the sudden, she couldn't wait to go to school! What a silly girl!!!!

Can you believe that.....

Abby is in Kindergarten! I can't believe she is already old enough to go to school!! After two years of preschool, I think she is ready. She is so proud that she knows her ABC's and can count to 40 all by herself. She can't wait to learn to read and practices writing "words" all day long. She was so excited to go to school that she had a REALLY hard time going to bed Sunday night. I don't think she was asleep until at least 10:30, and probably didn't sleep very well all night. She got up early on Monday morning, ate her favorite cereal for breakfast, (as much as an excited girl could eat!), helped make her lunch, put on her favorite outfit and was ready to go! Her favorite outfit says "I love to twirl", which if any of you know Abby, she very much loves to twirl. This first picture is of her right before she got in the car to go to school.

This is Alysa giving her a re-assuring hug that she would love school and if she needed anything, her big sister was there to help her...pretty sweet.

Daddy walking her to her classroom.

This is Abby at the end of the day. We have all day kindergarten here, which is a VERY big transition! She is not really upset and had a great day. She was so tired that I think if she took 3 more steps, she would have fallen over and took a nap. She came home and layed on the couch for about an hour and a half. Then she told me all about her day. She said over all she loved school, except the part where her teacher talked and talked...it was so BORING she told me. I think she will end up liking shool a lot. She has a great teacher and has already made some friends. Hopefully today won't be as boring.

First Day of School!!

Sis was so excited to go to school she could hardly stand it! First grade this year...getting big so fast!

So far, she loves her teacher. I was a little nervous because I don't know any of the teachers at this school, but so far I am pretty happy with her teacher. Her first day, she wanted the whole family to take her to school! She was a little nervous because she didn't know anyone in her class...or the school for that matter, but she came home excited about making 3 friends on her first day. I am excited that she is learning so much! I think in a lot of ways I enjoy having a house full of school age kids more then I did baby's. I love all the questions and craft projects, and learning experiences we are having! Anyway, here are some more pictures of my oldest little cutie!!

Pioneer Day

This post is a bit late since pioneer day was a couple weeks ago, but I don't have anything more exciting to post about, so Pioneer day it is!!

The girls all wanted pioneer dresses SO bad this year, so I caved in and made some for them. I think they turned out really cute! They wore them for almost a whole week straight. When we went to the parade, someone came and politely showed us where the parade line up was and asked us which float we were supposed to be on. The girls got tons of candy and other goodies from the parade. After the parade, we decided to go on a picnic and cook dinner over a fire. An outing planned by me never seems to work out to well, and this one was no exception. The road I picked ended up being private property on both sides of the road. I kept thinking we would drive out of it, but we didn't until we ended up on a main highway. So, we kept going on the highway until we finally found a spot. By this time, we had been driving for about 2 hours and evening was quickly coming on. We pulled over and stopped, started the fire, and then it started to rain. We managed to cook dinner in the rain, hurried into the truck and came home. Over all, it was a really fun day and we really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures of the girls in their pioneer outfits! Hope you enjoy them!!

What I have been up to....

This summer I finally decided to start my own little store! It has been really good for me to have projects to work on and I love that I can make whatever I want and as much or as little as I want. I put a some pictures of what I have in my little store at the bottom of this blog...take a look and tell me what you think!
